HERO BX, an Erie-based biodiesel company, has developed a $1 million research lab in the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Center in Knowledge Park. The HERO BX partnership is the first open lab initiative for Penn State Behrend’s School of Science. Students will work with the company's chemists to develop cleaner, cheaper fuels.

The HERO BX mission is to be a reliable producer and distributor of biodiesel that exceeds industry standards. HERO BX produces and delivers biodiesel, a cleaner burning renewable drop-in replacement for diesel and heating oil applications. These products reduce carbon emissions, create jobs in the United States, promote energy security, and serve the community.
